DECA, FBLA, Cross Country, Track, work, climbing mountains… what does this guy not do? And how did he have time to finish all his classes so he could graduate high school when he was involved in so many other activities? I asked myself these questions as we were walking around Weber High School and Wadman Nature Park for Matt’s senior photo shoot. Nothing but optimism from this graduate. He has his life planned out, and he’s ready to go. The interesting thing to me is that our conversation never turned to the recent pandemic that has taken over all our lives… and what a bummer it is that his senior year is much different than what he had envisioned. That says a lot about him. He’s focused on what he does have and his hope for the future. And that, my friends, makes all the difference.
I remember graduating high school like it was yesterday, and yet 20 years have passed since then. I recently had the opportunity to interact with some of those friends from my senior year. Sweet memories flooded back…I remember feeling the excitement of life and the endless possibilities that lay before me. What an incredible feeling. The graduating class from 2020 have those same feelings, and yet the world is very different than it was in 2000. That says a lot about this generation. At least that’s what I saw in Matt, and his friend (and my nephew), Trevor, while I took their pictures. They’re ready for challenges. They’re ready to lead. And that’s what helps me to continue to hope for the future.
Matt, thank you for allowing me the honor of taking your senior pictures! It was such a pleasure to work with you. I love how these pictures turned out- you are a very handsome and impressive young man both in and out, and I am so excited for you and your upcoming adventures. Keep up the optimism. Keep jumping into all these opportunities you’re facing with confidence. Keep being you, and you’ll never go wrong. Congrats and I wish you the very best!!
