Every time I hear that song, I think of Celine Dion’s lullaby version playing softly while I cuddled with my baby niece in the rocking chair. I was in heaven. It seriously couldn’t get better than this. I was visiting my sister and her family in the Portland, Oregon area, and I cherished all that time I had with them… especially when I got to hold Grace. There’s something about holding a sleeping baby, feeling their weight on you, hearing their breath… it quickly brings me back to the simplicity and majesty of life.
That sweet little baby is not a baby anymore, but she’s just as sweet and beautiful as she was when I got to hold her in my arms. Grace is a master of creativity. I’ve seen her create beauty in almost anything. She creates beauty in movement and dance, hair and makeup, decorations, drawings, writing, and organization. But it doesn’t end there. She’s always finding ways to brighten the lives of others with this creativity. She recently spent hours on a gift for my children that included name tags for their doors with detailed drawings of different characters my kids loved, homemade play doh, coloring pages that she drew (of course), and other squishy toys and activity ideas.
Grace, you are beautiful. Keep that excitement and love for life alive in those big bright eyes of yours. Keep sharing your light with others like you always have… whether it’s doing incredible chalk drawings on your sidewalk for your mom’s music class, creating fun games to play with your younger siblings and cousins, doing someone’s hair, or creating a beautiful drawing or dance. Keep believing in yourself. Keep creating. You make this world even more wonderful by being the person you are and I feel so blessed to be related to you. I so loved doing this photo shoot with you! It brought me so much joy to spend time with you and to see and capture your beautiful dance movement:)
